7:00 pm: Making the Most of Summer: Tips for Managing Behavior in Youth with ADHD
with Susan Perkins-Parks, Ph.D., Ashley Bordelon, M.Ed., M.A., Silviana Guerra, Psy.D., Amanda Moen, M.A., and Nancy Wallace, Ph.D. 

Although summer vacation is a typically a fun time of year, some children with ADHD and their families can struggle to deal with the changes, lack of structure and routine, and longer days. The presentation will include strategies for parents of children with ADHD to optimize their summer time while also preventing behavioral issues, maintaining discipline, and preparing for back to school.It?

Dr. Susan Perkins-Parks is the Director of the Behavior Management Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. Dr. Parks graduated from Creighton University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received her Masters of Arts in School Psychology from Trinity University and her doctoral degree from the University of Maryland at College Park in School Psychology. Dr. Parks completed pre-doctoral internships in clinical and cognitive neuropsychology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and also within the Howard County Public School District. She completed post-doctoral fellowships in clinical psychology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and in behavioral pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Dr. Parks is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and is a Level 1 trainer in Parent Child Interaction Therapy.

Ashley Bordelon is a doctoral intern in the Behavior Management Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Ashley received her BCBA in May 2017, and she will receive her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Louisiana State University in August 2018.

Dr. Silvi Guerra is currently a clinical post-doctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) treating children and families at the Behavior Management Clinic (BMC). Dr. Guerra has experience working in numerous clinical, community, and medical settings including Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University and the Community Clinic at Children's Health Council, Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Treatment Program at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL), and Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Brain Institute and Behavioral Medicine. She received her M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Amanda Moen is a doctoral intern in the Behavior Management Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Amanda will receive her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in August 2018.

Dr. Nancy Wallace is a current post-doctoral fellow in the Behavior Management Clinic, Kennedy Krieger Institute. She graduated from West Virginia University with her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Under the mentorship of Dr. Cheryl McNeil, an internationally recognized Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) expert, Dr. Wallace gained extensive experience in the area of PCIT research and clinical practice. Dr. Wallace currently holds certification as a Level 1 PCIT trainer through PCIT International and has co-authored over three dozen publications,
