7:00 pm: Secrets to Success in School and Life with Dr. Lori Perez
This seminar is recommended for parents and educators seeking knowledge and understanding of the effects academic knowledge, executive functioning skills, and cognitive skills---visual and auditory processing, working and long-term memory, and attention skills, among others---have on learning and performance. The course is fun and interactive and includes information about new brain research and how it affects various aspects of our life including sports, work, and academics. The course also provides methods for detecting those with weak cognitive and/or executive functioning skills and tools to strengthen those skills.
Dr. Lori Perez is an educational and school psychologist specializing in early intervention and the neuropsychological origins of learning difficulties. As a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, she has served both public and private schools and has presented and published at both national and local levels. Currently she is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Anne Arundel Community College. In addition to her professional career, Dr. Perez is the proud mother of three boys. Her oldest son, diagnosed with ADHD, was the driving force behind her decision to open the Educational Resource Group, a learning center dedicated to cognitive and executive skill development and educational advocacy for youth and adults in the community.
